My name is Juan, I’m a third generation Colombian coffee grower.
As a child I grew up running through the fields of my grandfather’s coffee farm, in Piendamo, Colombia, learning from the best about coffee, tradition and best practices.

After seeing a gap in coffee trends in Albuquerque, and doing some market research, my brother and I returned to our roots and started Villa Myriam coffee in 2010. Continuing my education, I joined the Barista Guild of America (BGA) and got certified as a Level 1 barista in Denver and took all courses for Level 2 in Seattle.

Due to my relevancy and skill set in the industry, I developed a notable reputation and was invited to join the movie industry, working as a barista, for some of the greatest actors in the world.  This afforded me many opportunities to travel the world and learn even more about coffee. Between 2017 and 2018 I was in five different continents, explored multiple cities, experienced and studied the coffee culture of many regions where I saw trends and I gained knowledge of what’s working in my industry; I was able to reconcile my coffee tradition with current trends.
In 2019 I sold Villa Myriam Coffee and decided to refocus on community instead of an industrialized business.
I own and operate, The Brew Coffee Bar. This is where I’ve been able to connect with my local community and keep applying what I’ve learned through life, education and travel. At the beginning of 2020 we started roasting, keeping the promise to roast and brew the best coffee available without the excessive price tag.
I am very proud of what our team has accomplished with The Brew. We strive to bring you the best coffee in a comfortable environment, unpretentious and focused on the tradition of what great coffee should be. From our family farm to Albuquerque, Come share with us the greatest attribute of coffee; its ability to connect us!
